Security Camera Monitor - are you Protected?

Security Camera Monitor - are you Protected?

Author: Timothy Croy

If you are a business owner and own a business which deals with highly security sensitive information and functions, it is about time that you paid attention to elementary steps that you could take towards data security. A Security Camera Monitor allows you to take one step towards accomplishing various objectives.

How is a Security Camera Monitor beneficial to a workplace?

• You can install a Security Monitor at various places in your worksite to follow up on the behavior of your employees. Since peer-peer employee behavior is critical to most workplaces, you would need to ensure that the behavior is at its best by monitoring the activities in the company through a Security Camera Monitor.

• You can ensure that your company is known for productivity, quality as well as ethics which your company follows in conducting the business. Security Camera Monitors installed on the operations floor keeps a track of what the employees do with the customer’s data. Rising number of cases in Phishing and Data theft has ensured that business owners use Security Camera Monitor as a security measure, if not by choice by force.

• A Security Camera Monitor keeps the Organizational Behavior mantra going for you. Remember, Organizational Behavior is a set of principles which allow a business owner to focus on people interaction and group dynamics to ensure that the business objectives are met at all times.

Can a Security Camera Monitor be used in homes?

Of course, you can. In fact, many celebrities and high profile residents in all parts of the world are using the Security Camera Monitor at the entrance gates to their homes. The Security Camera Monitor is linked to a computer or a television set which allows the resident of the home to see a live image of the visitor to his home. Primarily employed as a screening technique in home, a Security Camera Monitor is one mechanism by which you can ensure that unwanted visitors are kept out of your home at all costs.

A Security Camera Monitor takes images at a very high resolution. Recent advancements to technology has ensured that a Security Camera Monitor takes images at very poor light, which otherwise a normal camera with Zoom technology would have failed. Most of these Security Camera Monitors employ a 2X or a 3X zoom in technology which allows the business owner to see a full sized image of the person. Companies have implemented the Security Camera Monitors with great success to keep a check on the activities of the company. For long, Security Camera Monitors have been used with great effect in public interest places, like Cinema Theaters, Airports, Railway terminals and much more.

Mobile Phone Chargers : Now With the Help of Wind Energy

Mobile Phone Chargers : Now With the Help of Wind Energy

Author: Raina Kelsey

Mobile phone chargers are inseparable entity of any mobile phone. There is no mobile phone in the world which is free of its chargers. With the advent of new sophisticated mobile phone in the market, users of the phone are paying much importance to its chargers.

So, people would have witnessed in every public space there kept a place for mobile chargers. But, there comes a good news, the problem of keeping mobile phone fully charged when miles away from a conventional electricity source is being tackled by UK wind turbine specialists.

The Orange wind charger prototype uses stored kinetic energy to fully charge a mobile phone in up to two hours. Coming in only 150 grams, the wind generator gives answers to many solar powered phone chargers (which have limited functionality at night and in colder climates) and wind-up units.

The wind charger is attached to a rechargeable battery. Mobile phones can then be plugged into a control box on the unit for charging. An additional feature of this clever portable generator is that it can be mounted anywhere in any place.

Well, the lightweight wind generator is still in it’s prototype stage, which specializes in making electricity generating wind turbines, was approached by global communications corporation Orange. After seeing the functionality of the work, Orange decided to commission a prototype wind charger to unveil at the recent Glastonbury Music Festival, of which they were a major sponsor. The prototype was completed in just four weeks and there are plans to mass produce these portable wind generators for release into the market in the near future. The cost of the units is not yet known.

Digital Kanban Feature Picked Up by Scm Pulse

Digital Kanban Feature Picked Up by Scm Pulse

Author: Thomas Cutler

SCM Pulse, Supply Chain Management News, Resources, and Commentary, picked up manufacturing journalist, Thomas R. Cutler’s feature article titled, “Distributors should look to digital Kanban” which originally appeared in the July 2007 issue of Industrial Distribution. According to Cutler, “Distributors must continually innovate to maximize productivity and reduce total costs. Initiatives of process improvement and waste reduction can result in cost-saving efficiency. Productivity is output, efficiency and production. Waste is identified in many ways, yet ultimately it is any activity that requires allocated resources but adds no value from the customer’s perspective. Some activities, while not directly adding value to a product or process (such as time spent on equipment maintenance or an accounting function) are necessary and must be perpetuated. But non-value-added activities must be constantly reevaluated and, if necessary, identified as waste and eliminated.”

For example, many distributors still maintain inventories of a million plus items. Even with extensive networks of distribution centers to ensure prompt and reliable deliveries to their customers, their success is still not guaranteed. Despite long-standing relationships with thousands of manufacturers, many distributors lack an integrated approach. This costs customers time and money.

Purchasing organizations wrongly assume that “just-in-case” inventories are less costly than the cost of downtime or lost production. Preparing for an emergency or downtime situation usually creates inventories of items never used. Your lean procurement activities must be directly related to production, otherwise they become waste themselves. Many organizations implement lean strategic sourcing initiatives, yet still find that nearly half their purchases are spot buys or unplanned.

A key component to a lean initiative is the use of Kanban, the “pull” method of keeping production lines suitably stocked with inventory that’s available when needed and in the correct quantity. Kanban is the signal needed for inventory replenishment, and as a product is consumed, an order for the utilized inventory is automatically placed. Digital kanban is the leanest methodology for a demand-driven supply chain.

Supplier consolidation can lower costs and improve productivity, but only if there is a complete understanding of the customers’ needs and goods. According to Stephen Parker, CEO of North Carolina-based Datacraft Solutions, “The reduction of waste associated with rarely used items in inventory allows distributors to focus on core competencies. No time should be wasted sourcing and procuring infrequently used items. Digital Kanban re-orders, based only on actual consumption, are electronically communicated during each phase of replenishment.”

Lean procurement today requires digital Kanban because it is ultimately a demand-driven, lean optimization tool that allows for both flexibility and responsiveness, thereby eliminating waste, increasing productivity, and holding to the cardinal rule of continued process improvement.

The article may be read in it’s entirety at http://scmpulse.wordpress.com/2007/07/29/distributors-take-on-digital-kanban/.

Datacraft Solutions (www.datacraftsolutions.com) delivers a revolutionary digital kanban process of automation solutions to lean manufacturers through a secure Internet gateway, eliminating the need to install and maintain a complex IT infrastructure. The company has experienced significant growth in the past twelve months by eliminating complicated, expensive, time-intensive software implementations as well as extensive training regiments and the need for internal support. The Datacraft Solutions' demand driven supply chain digital kanban lean system allows customers access and fully utilize powerful lean benefits immediately for a low, predictable monthly fee. Services are scalable so manufacturers and distributors can design an appropriate digital kanban solution.

Escape Velocity Systems New Mountain View Offices in Boulder Valued by Clients and Employees Thanks to 100% Growth Rate

Escape Velocity Systems New Mountain View Offices in Boulder Valued by Clients and Employees Thanks to 100% Growth Rate

Author: Thomas Cutler

According to Escape Velocity Systems (www.evs-sw.com) President Evan Garber, “We expect about 50% staff growth for 2008 and that is on the back of our 100% growth in 2007. Since the entire staff at EVS is dedicated to our expanding client base, we wanted to bring the open range and vistas of the Rockies into our new facility. We realize that good ERP software is the hub of information in any process manufacturing enterprise. Timely, reliable, and centralized data are non-negotiable elements for businesses competing in the 21st century.”

Escape Velocity Systems (EVS) was formed in 2001 to combine specific industry knowledge related to process manufacturing, distribution, and ERP implementations with cutting edge software development. The company focus is to create tools that enable mid-market enterprises to achieve their goals, focusing on lean processes and ROI.

Few technology solutions were designed by industry sector experts within the process manufacturing arena and as a result many solutions do not focus on ROI; enterprise software should power businesses towards a Lean enterprise and that powerful technology drives long term ROI with customizable and flexible software. EVS expertise is process manufacturing specific and their team of experts understands the nuances of the lean process manufacturing enterprise.

EVS provides the leading process (formula based) manufacturing software solution, O2 was designed by experts in the sector, which includes food and beverage, meat processing, chemicals, and health and personal care products. There are two basic categories of manufacturing software, discrete and process. Discrete manufacturing systems are generally designed around a bill of material containing whole, or discrete quantities of materials such as 1 axle, 2 tires, etc. Process manufacturing systems are driven by formulas such as 90% water, 5% flavoring, etc. Process manufacturers usually blend or mix materials rather than cutting, shaping, or assembling hard goods. Hybrid manufacturers combine process and discrete components. A good example would be a cosmetic company that mixes a batch of lip stick bulk and fills the bulk into a base container (process manufacturing), then assembles this into a finished product with a packaging and label bill of material (discrete manufacturing).

The term escape velocity refers to the speed that is necessary for an object to overcome gravity and soar into space. EVS provides direct applications for businesses looking for a catalyst, not just a software package. Process manufacturers require the best software solution coupled with industry experience that will accelerate the velocity with which they race towards their goals. The gravity of status-quo opposes aggressive, cutting edge organizations as they strive towards high quality and short lead time delivery while reducing inventories and operating costs. The new EVS Boulder offices are located at 2530 55th St., Suite 204, Boulder, CO 80301.

Prince of Persia Classic Review

Prince of Persia Classic Review

Author: sayed islam

Prince of Persia Classic is a contemporary video game adaptation to the original Prince of Persia video game. The initial Prince of Persia was released on the Apple computer in 1989, and the new iteration is available on Xbox live marketplace. In terms of the storyline, both versions of the game are identical.

The protagonist is the Prince, and he will be attempting to rescue the Princess. Gamers will be in control of the Prince throughout the duration of the game; furthermore, the Princess is being held hostage by the nefarious Jaffar. Unfortunately, the perverse Jaffar plans on coercing the Princess to marry him in one hour. I have heard of arranged marriages but come on. Would you really want to marry someone who detests you? Probably not. Shame on you Jaffar. The plot is fairly mundane; it is nothing that will make your jaw hit the floor by any stretch of the imagination. The gameplay is all about jumping, running, and swordplay. Since Prince of Persia Classic is a remake of the original, do not expect next generation visuals. The graphics are a significant upgrade from the Prince of Persia that was on the Apple computer, but they are not amazing.

Players will experience the game on a two dimensional environment (ala Castlevania). You will encounter a myriad of trapped doors, hazardous spikes, and deadly blades. Jumping from platform to platform makes up a great deal of the gameplay (too much for my taste). Fortunately, the Prince has a bevy of maneuvers at his disposal to circumvent the palace. He will be able to perform a wide variety of acrobatics in the game that will make your journey easier. The controls in Prince of Persia Classic are somewhat vexing. You cannot use the analog stick at all in the game; consequently, you will be floundering during critical points in Prince of Persia Classic. Momentum seems to frequently alter the way the Prince moves. As a result, lining up jumps can be more arduous in Prince of Persia Classic than in Tomb Raider. Most if not all of the combat entailed in the game revolve around a one on one sword fight. There are a few number of these gameplay elements in the game, and they require some skill to be victorious.

Sword fighting boils down to blocking and attacking. Vigorously attacking, will make gamers suffer the consequences. Excessive blocking will result in a game over. Finding a consummate balance between attacking and blocking is the only way to be triumphant. Even though there is not much fighting in the game, it is a nice change of pace from the jumping and running. Checkpoints are available in the game, so it is possible to get to the end without losing your hair. Prince of Persia Classic does manage to keep the challenge of the original game intact for the Xbox 360 version. Some would argue that the game is impossible to beat.

The animations are not bad. There is very little audio in the game; however, various scenes do an serviceable job of telling the story. Without giving anything away, there are two endings in Prince of Persia Classic. The first on being if the player completes the game in under one hour; the second being if players finish the game over an hour. The game is not as brilliant as the Prince of Persia games on the Xbox and PlayStation 2, but it has its moments. Overall, Prince of Persia Classic is video game that pays homage to a groundbreaking game from 1989. If you are a Prince of Persia fan, then you will find this game to be fairly enjoyable.

Why the Ipod Touch Can't Hold a Candle to the Ipod Mini

Why the Ipod Touch Can't Hold a Candle to the Ipod Mini

Author: Anthony Magnabosco

With all the new hype surrounding Apple's latest announcement on the iPod touch and iPod classic, it's easy to get caught up in the frenzy and ditch your older iPod.

The iPod mini is by far one of the most popular devices in the iPod family. As the owner of ipodjuice.com, I get to speak directly with our customers on a daily basis, and it's amazing how many people want to get a new iPod mini battery for their player and to extend their playtimes well-beyond the original stock battery that Apple put inside the unit.

What makes the iPod mini so special?

Well, one of the first things that you notice about the iPod mini are all the bright colors they come in. You can find an iPod mini in gold, silver, green, blue, and perhaps the most popular color, pink (the ScrollWheel and top and bottom end caps are white). Of course, you can always snatch a 2nd Generation iPod nano in a bevy of bright colors, but they have far less storage then a 1st or 2nd Generation iPod mini does.

And this leads me to my second point: the 4GB or 6GB hard drive inside an iPod mini generally provides more than enough storage for the average music listener.

Third, the iPod mini is a durable animal. The outer shell is made of metal and, although it can get scratched up if you are not careful, it can take a beating and still protect the internal components.

Fourth, while the iPod mini battery inside the unit will eventually degrade over time, it is user-replaceable if you know what you are doing. Just make sure you find a third-party vendor that provides good, detailed instructions and the proper tools to safely complete the job. ipodjuice.com is the category killer here, and you can check them out at www.ipodjuice.com for more information.

Next, although in my experience I would say that there are slightly more female owners of the iPod mini than male. It's hard to put a finger on it, but the iPod mini's popularity seems to cut across a gender and a wide range of ages.

Finally, the iPod mini is just the right size: smaller than a new iPod Video and more manageable than a iPod nano, the mini is perfect for long runs and bicycle rides. It works great when clipped to an armband or you can simply tuck it away in your pocket.

Long live the iPod mini!

Wireless Security Cameras for the Internet – Why Do you Need One?

Wireless Security Cameras for the Internet – Why Do you Need One?

Author: Timothy Croy

Would you like to know of a product that offers remote access to any live streaming video from any part of the world to business owners? A Wireless Internet Security camera does just that. It will allow business owners to view a video file of California sitting on a plane to Tokyo. And for all this, the minimum requirements are – A Web Browser and of course a Wireless Internet Security Camera.

What are the features of a Wireless Internet Security Camera?

• Connectivity – The Wireless Internet Security Camera offered by many companies connects to a wireless network or a wired Ethernet network. It allows the business owners to download and upload video streams up to 30 frames a second. The resolution offered by this technology uses the MPEG-4 compression technique to provide the video with a 640*480 video resolution.

• Charge Couple Device – Should you wish to capture images in low light (example dark room or images take in the night), you can do that using a Wireless Internet Security Camera which uses the CCD (Charge Couple Device Technology). This allows you to provide very clear and crisp video of images shot in night/low light. Ask any professional photographer as to which shots will the be the most difficult ones to capture on camera and he would say “The shots taken in low light”. The Wireless Security Camera gets rid of this thought as well.

• Video Monitoring System can be setup remotely – Now, business owners can look at setting up a powerful video monitoring system over the internet from remote locations. Let us take an example assuming that your business site is in NY city. Your site has about 10 cameras installed in it which does the surveillance of the activities on your site. When you are on a business trip to lets say, Singapore, you wish to see what is happening at your site. You can do that with consummate ease with a Wireless Internet Security Camera.

• Dynamic Domain Name Service – The Internet camera allows business owners to integrate the web server, emails and IP addresses to itself which will allow you to view the streaming video from the camera’s unique IP address. The fact that you would be able to provide a personal web address allows users to access the camera’s live video over the internet.

• Pan and Tilt – Now, your Internet Security Camera will allow you to adjust the camera angles. That is achieved by the Motorized Pan and Tilt functions which allows you to remote control the angle positioning of the cameras. And if by viewing the video stream, you decide to zoom in on the video, you can do so without any hassles. The Wireless Internet Security Camera allows you to do that by its built in 4X Zoom technology.

The Wireless Internet Security Camera is proving to be a device which allows the business owners to be in constant touch with the goings-on of a business. It is a bit expensive, but indeed a small price to pay for the benefits and features it offers.

The Apple iPhone packs the Safari web browser, giving full xHTML rendering and JavaScript through a WiFi or EDGE connection. Google Maps is also available for mapping and directions, and a 'widget' system gives you instant access to the information that matters to you. The Heat is a gleaming slider phone with an electrostatic touchpad, but has all the right geeky qualities.

The touchpad is set so you can customize its sensitivity (super, high, medium, low) for navigation through a simple finger tap, which means no more pushing extra hard while trying to navigate through applications.
Through Apple's collaboration with Cingular Wireless, the company has been able to include some interesting carrier services, such as random access voice mail. Random access voicemail is a first that allows you to see a list of all your voicemail messages, showing the caller and the time and date of the call, so that you can jump right to the voicemail you need rather than have to listen to each and every one in turn.

The iPhone v1.0.1 Update also covers a separate cross-site scripting flaw in Safari as well as a memory corruption flaw in WebKit that creates a mechanism for hackers to inject hostile code onto the device. The patch also covers an address spoofing bug in WebKit, the application framework engine for Mac OS X, and a cross-site scripting flaw in WebCore, the HTML layout engine for Mac OS X.

I think all of these programs would be fantastic for the iPhone platform. When it comes down to it, implementation is key when working on such a unique platform/user environment. I think Josh's mock-ups are great and are how I would like to see these programs designed for the iPhone if they were developed! Out of the 5 though, I think the E-reader idea is the best.

How to Send Sms Text Messages Online for Free

How to Send Sms Text Messages Online for Free

Author: Milos

Undeniably, the mobile phone can be considered to be the greatest invention of 20th century. It really simplifies our life with its numerous utilizations, one of which is the exceedingly effective SMS or Short Messaging Service. SMS is the conventional expression for the technology which equips people with the facility to receive and send text messages via cellular phones.

With contemporary technological advancements, free international sms messages can now be transmitted on a global level anywhere in the world by way of numerous online service providers. And the very best part is that you do not really even need a cell phone on condition that you own a computer. You only register with the information you want on any of the sites that deliver free SMS service and simply read the basic directions. There is a space for the cellular number of the recipient, together with the required space for the text message. It depends on the free sms provider, but customarily, the maximum number of words allowed is commonly fixed at 137 characters. However, some India sms providers tolerate even more than this. SMS messages can allow words, any numbers or any alphanumeric group. Furthermore, binary format is usually accepted.

A number of free sms service providers give out innumerable other services to senders, such as submission verifications or replies. Consequently, you may track your sent messages and find out when it gets received. In addition, in case you mark replies, the recipients may even reply back to you. This two-way sms contact without wasting a dime is made possible solely through a free SMS service provider on the net.

Owing to the fact that you frequently have to pay to send out SMS, sending free of cost, worldwide SMS via online sms service providers is a great, quick way to be in contact with family and friends. For instance, In the United Kingdom, messages cost mounts up to 0.10, and with people sending hundreds of messages each and every day, costs can mount up.

Additionally, writing a text message using your cell phone just takes too long if compared to using the keyboard. Even on highly innovative mobile phones with advanced predictive text messaging, it might be really tricky and time-consuming to write a message. Just reflect how fast it is to write a message on your computer keyboard, it is much quicker than using your mobile phone.

Considering they are free, some messaging services are consistent, some do not work at all, and others are very slow. Furthermore, countless services will add and advert to the bottom of your message, even though this really doesn`t bring about much problem, for, it doesn`t reduce the number of accepted characters.

Be rather alert when you register for a free SMS service. Not all are as free as they allege to be, some send paid sms messages to your phone, that makes the service pretty costly.

Night Vision Goggles Review

Night Vision Goggles Review

Author: Ricky Lim

Today there are all types of night vision goggles (NVG’s) and other forms of night vision equipment that a person can purchase. However when it comes to choosing what is right for you it is important that you read as many night vision goggle reviews as you can before you make your final purchase.

Not only can you purchase night vision goggles, but you can also get binoculars and night vision thermal cameras as well and all of these can now be readily brought by members of the general public either through a specialist retail store or online.

The first time that most people became aware of what night vision goggles and other night vision pieces of equipment were was during the first Gulf War in 1991. Many people quite clearly remember seeing pictures beamed into their homes showing sites as attacks took place in the dead of night and everything could be clearly seen as if it was daytime.

Most of the night vision goggles available today work in one of 2 ways. They either enhance the image that the person is seeing or they detect heat to produce a thermal image. Whilst there are even some more advanced versions of these goggles which now utilize both types of image enhancement to provide the wearer with a much clearer image and so their perception of what they see in front of them is much improved as well. Today even the most standard pair of goggles will enable the wearer to see someone or something that is over 250 feet away when it is completely dark.

Although most NVG’s are used by either the military or law enforcement agencies today, you can still purchase a pair for your own personal use. However it is important to note that the ones that are for sale to the general public are not of the same specification you would see being used by either the military or law enforcement agencies.

When you are looking to purchase a pair of NVG’s it is important to note that they are often denoted by a generation. Currently there are 4 generations of night vision goggles now available the oldest being Gen 1 the newest being Gen 4.

Certainly if you are looking for a very basic and affordable pair of NVG’s then it may be worth your while considering purchasing a pair of Gen 1. But with all of these types of goggles you will find that the main feature of them all is the light intensifier tube(s) which then allows a target to be seen by the person wearing them when it is dark.

It is important when reading any night vision goggles review that you look closely at the specifications that are offered as well as looking at the kind of optical lens package they come with and what additional features if any that they come with.

Laptops and Pdas – Choose your Style of Business

Laptops and Pdas – Choose your Style of Business

Author: Samuel Herrick

For the business men who are always on the go, there seems to an eternal question in their mind. What should I carry, a laptop or a PDA, or some other mobile gadget? While both the laptop and PDA are designed to make work smarter, better and efficient; there still remains a confusion. The easiest way to reach the answer is to understand the business requirement and then choose what would be the best companion. For this, one first needs to fully understand the benefits and disadvantages of the Laptops and PDAs.

The advantages of a laptop are that the users get the benefit of larger keyboard, which can help them to type faster (a much important feature in a meeting where time is often money). It also has larger display for greater visual appeal and easy to add peripherals. A laptop also has the same software as that of a computer, so one gets all the benefits of working on a PC. Last but not the least; a laptop has more OS available.

The flip side of a laptop is that it takes time to boot. Since it is heavy, it might be of some problem when being carried on for a long distance. A laptop often has a soft battery life, especially when there is no way to recharge it. A laptop need space, it also does not provide you privacy. And yes, a laptop is also a larger target for thieves. Talking of PDA, it is instant on convenience. It is compact, lightweight and requires no space. Yes, it gives a lot of privacy and also is less vulnerable for the thieves.

In short one would say that if you are in some urgent meetings, it’s good to keep a compact PDA to store the basic and important information. And if you are still not sure about the flavour of business meeting, then might as well carry both. For, if the worst happens and one should fail, you still have the other gadgets available and ready to be put to use.

Digital Camera Battery Tips

Digital Camera Battery Tips

Author: Camera-battery.org

Battery Conservation Tips
Are you always running out of battery power just before you take that perfect picture with your digital camera? Here are some

tips to conserve your batteries when you are out "snapping away".

1) Turn off your digital camera when not in use. If you are in a situation where you must snap pictures quickly, this may not

apply as turning digital cameras on and off take a few seconds, and may cause you to miss a picture-taking opportunity.

However, if you are taking a leisurely stroll and can afford a couple of seconds before snapping a still subject, by all

means, conserve your digital camera's energy!

2) Many digital cameras have a regular viewfinder and an LCD viewfinder. While the digital LCD viewfinder has its benefits,

it can drain battery power. Turn it off when applicable and use your regular viewfinder for taking pictures.

3) Don't stop after taking every photo and look at the picture in your digital camera's playback mode. Granted, you sometimes

need to look at photos immediately after shooting them in order to make sure your exposure is correct, the lighting is ok,

etc., but doing this does use up your digital camera's battery power.

4) If you are using MicroDrive media, be forewarned that these miniature hard drives may take up quite more power than

Compact Flash cards.

Taking care of you new battery pack

Normally, a new battery pack comes in a very low charge condition and must be fully charged before use. Refer to the user

manual of your portable electronic equipment for charging instructions. A new battery pack needs to be fully charged and

fully discharged or "cycled" as much as five times to condition them into performing at full capacity. Your equipment may

report a fully charge condition in as short as 10 to 15 minutes when the new battery pack is being charged for the first

time. This is a normal phenomenon especially for Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) and Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) chemistries. When

this happens, remove the battery pack and let it cool

down for about fifteen minutes then repeat the charging procedure. "Conditioning" (fully discharging and then fully charging)

is necessary so as to maintain the optimum performance of a battery pack, and is recommended at least once a month

particularly for Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries. Failure to do so could result in reduced charge capacity and can significantly

shorten the battery packs useful life. Lithium Ion batteries do not require conditioning. It is normal for a battery pack to

get warm when charging and during use. However, if the battery pack gets excessive hot, here may be a problem with the

portable electronic equipments charging circuit and should therefore be checked by a qualified technician. Rechargeable

batteries undergo self-discharging when left unused for long periods of time. This is normal particularly in the case of Ni-

MH and Li-ion chemistries. For best results, always store a battery pack fully charged. It should be removed from the

equipment and kept in a cool, dry and clean place. The amount of runtime a battery pack produces depends on the power

requirements of components in your electronic equipment.

Don't let under-charged batteries keep you from taking great photos.

If you infrequently use your digital camera, you may think that you after you use your digital camera, recharge your NiMH

batteries, wait a few weeks or months, then use your digital camera again, that your batteries will be charged and you'll be

ready to snap photos, right?

Oops... Do that and you'll be stuck with a non-functioning digital camera or one that just blinks a picture showing a dead

battery.

Rechargeable batteries don't stay charged forever. They tend to lose a little bit of their power every day. If you charge

your batteries and frequently use your digital camera, you will probably never notice this loss of power. However, after a

couple of weeks, the power loss may be noticeable, and after a couple of months or longer of non-use, those once ready-to-go

batteries may have lost enough power to make them unusable.

Don't get caught in this trap. Always charge your batteries before every trip, and make sure to use a battery charger with a sensor that prevents over-charge.

The Motorola Q9 - Totally Business

Author: Matt Sharp

Motorola is one of the foremost innovator in the field of communication and a major mobile phone manufacturing unit. However, the global giant don not have a strong portfolio when it comes to PDA styled smartphones. While other major manufacturers like Nokia, Sony Ericsson and even lesser known brands like HTC are making most of the rising demands of the business niche, Motorola seems to be quite content with its fashion centric solutions. However, with the launch of the Motorola Q9 – a new Q series phone, the company has sent in strong signals to its competitors.

The Virgin Mobile Motorola Q9 is a PDA styled phone that features a massive 2.4 inch, TFT based screen with a full QWERTY keypad. The 65k colour rich display produces images with amazing clarity across its 320 x 240 pixels. Below the screen, there is a 5-way navigation button for quick navigation through the handset's highly intuitive user menu. The Motorola Q9 is exceptionally slim for a PDA, measuring just 11.8 mm in thickness. Its weight of 134 grams can be regarded as featherweight considering the Motorola Q9 is a 3G enabled Windows Mobile 6.0 handset.

Like any other Window Mobile device, the Motorola Q9 includes all important Microsoft applications like Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The device has about 96 Mb RAM and another 256 Mb Flash memory. If your needs are more than this, you may opt for a microSD memory card. HSDPA technology for 3.5G connectivity, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, USB – connecting and exchange of information has never been so fun and easy. You might as well download a few of your favourite tracks to the Motorola Q9 and listen to them when you want to relax or just plain bored while commuting from work to office. The handset even features a 2.0 megapixel camera with integrated flash for quick capture and even quicker share!

Ask your Grandfather how his life was when he was young. The answer would surely be – “Tough as nails”. And he is bound to give you an insight into how lucky you are to be born in a world very different from the one he grew up in. Each and everything is available at the click of a button. Technology is all around you and touches every aspect of your life.

If you look around, it has us surrounded. Mp3 players, slick cell phones and svelte laptops are proliferating. And we are not averse to flaunting our toys. But with technology filtering down the way it is, it is easy to become ‘just another user’ of even a new gadget.

Now say you are going to an important meeting. On the way your car breaks down. Earlier you would go all the way in search of a Call Booth and call up to your office about the delay. Or if unfortunately there was none you had to leave everything on God and the fat chance that your boss would believe your sob story. But now life is different - it only takes a few seconds to ring up your office and tell them about your delay. Then again, you can connect to the net there itself and call the nearest help center.

No longer are today’s gizmos restricted purely to the humdrum business doing just what they are meant for. Mobile phones have become man’s best friend these days. He is either found playing with the latest games, listening to songs or watching his family’s latest clip on the mobile phone even if he is traveling alone. In short, man is never alone with this electronic device. The entertainment industry has gained a lot from these gizmos.

Digital content distribution has reached new heights with streaming music software on the net. Today you don’t need to go all the way to a music shop and browse through your favorite songs. Only you have to do is to connect yourself to the net world and download music that is freely available on the net. Of course for this, you have to first download music software. And the best part about listening to your favorite music is you don’t even have to carry your laptops along or sit at home in front of your PC. Many latest mobile phones have the software in which you can surf the net too. These are the pocket cosmos.
The other boons of technology are the MP3 players and the Ipods. Their ability to store hundreds and even thousands of songs with precise clarity have made them quite famous. With these wide variety of songs and a music production software one can mix a variety of songs and music and become a disc jockey of his own party.

Cameras and Games have also added tremendously to the experience of owning a mobile. Take pictures of your near and dear ones and enjoy your spare time with the latest games. All on that cute little gadget in your palm.

Given a chance at rebirth, which world would you rather be born in – the current one or the one your Grandfather lived in? Take your pick.

How to Watch Satellite TV on your Computer Today?

How to Watch Satellite TV on your Computer Today?

Author: Davion W

If you are like anyone else who wish to watch satellite TV on your computer today, you would be glad that you are here reading this article as I share some useful information that can get you started on your TV viewing within the next hour. How does that sound to you?

To be able to watch satellite TV on your computer has come across to many folks as an amazing discovery. Space communications has gained so much momentum that it has made it possible for you and me to watch TV on our computers without a dish at all.

Frankly, who needs a dish when there are better alternatives to watch satellite TV on your computer? Installing the satellite dish TV system is a thankless and challenging experience. The antenna, receiver box, mount, and cables all makes it quite expensive to set up a satellite dish. And not forgetting that you have to erect the satellite dish on your rooftop and pointing it to the right direction which by the way can be affected by bad weather conditions. That is not all, you still have to fit the Low-Noise Block LNB converter on the dish and get the decoder fitted properly. By now, you should know that getting the satellite dish system up and running is such a pain and laborious effort for most people, especially those who are not good with gadgets.

There are two alternatives when it comes to watching satellite TV on your computers. One is the hardware option and the other the software version.

We come to the hardware version first – PCTV cards.

Did you know that PCTV cards can be used to receive, decode and interpret the satellite TV signals. With this card, it transforms your monitor into a TV screen powered by your CPU. The card can be installed internally onto your PC’s motherboard. You may also want to note that there are also external PCTV cards in the market which allows you to attach them to the PC’s USB port. In both cases, you will need an internet connection.

A broadband connection with at least 512KB transfer speeds is highly recommended for smooth and uninterrupted transmission of the TV feeds. You also get better and sharper resolution pictures with a broadband when you watch satellite TV on your computer. Though dial-up is sufficient, I would advise against using that for optimal TV viewing experience.

Be sure to check your computer configuration. Your system needs to have minimum Pentium 3 CPU and 128 MB RAM of running speed. Before you buy any card, always check the requirements of the card against your computer system.

Other computer peripherals you may need are good sound card and graphics card. You may wish to top it up with a set of top-class speakers. But all these are optional.

When it comes to watching satellite TV on your computer, other than PCTV cards, you can always download a new PC satellite TV software. The software does much more than a card in the sense that it allows your computer to receive more TV channels, as much as 3000 over channels from countries across the world. Another two advantages software has over the cards are the relative ease of installation which is pretty much click and run, and the cost of such a software seldom goes beyond $60.

So if you are considering your options to watch satellite TV on your computer, why not read up more at my satellite TV blog before you decide?
